Meeko was never afraid of thunderstorms but he didn't like fireworks. He didn't hide, but he did stay close to hubby and I.

I'm not sure how Dakota will accept things. He does jump if you drop anything but he seems to be settling in well. He has slept quite a bit today. I hope that doesn't mean he will be up all night.

I actually enjoy watching the fireworks go on. I really do! If I cannot see it clearly over the wall in my porch, my Mommy will carry me(she says I'm damn heavy!) so that I can see it clearer & I will watch till it's over.

Sorry you don't like loud noises like fireworks.
You should hide in the laundry with the washing machine going.
My mum read somewhere that the noise and vibration of a washing machine helps to calm dogs afraid of thunder and fireworks.
We don't know if it works or not but if you try it and it does, let us know.

I don't like any loud noises. Loud stuff makes me shake. I run upstairs and hide in the big bed.
Tell LS to google "Mutt Muffs" and she will find ear muffs for dogs. They are pretty expensive $54 (I guess I'm not worth it cause I don't have them)

Our mom was a lazy bum bum throughout the Chinese New Year period too.. she did nothing but eat, watch TV, eat, sleep, watch TV.. (ok you get the drift).

Now I know it wasn't just me! Sorry that we haven't seen each other for so long...before I had computer problems & internet, then busy too.

Well, Happy...Fireworks are common for many things here also and these people are Mexican not Chinese so they can't be celebrating the Chinese New Year! We all just yap up a storm! I use to hide like you
(ok sometimes I still do) but I usually start the tough barks & soon they all stop that noise!

That was a nice hiding place. You should ask the vet about using ear plugs. I use them at night to sleep and they block out EVERYTHING.
