Thankful Time

Hosted at Grace Alone

Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

LS:

I'm thankful for the time to do a thankful post this week, although it's a day earlier. Of late I've been rather busy and altogether missed doing a thankful post, which I've very much come to enjoy doing. So here's a little break of convention *cough cough*

Having a loving mother is such a blessing. Having another person who became close to being a second mom to you is a double blessing. I had that. For she came when I was so far away from my own mother. Even though she was here just for a season of my life, I'll always be thankful for that. Sadly, she lost her battle with breast cancer.

As October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, here's a tribute to this special woman. And to all who had fought and is still fighting. Have courage.

May their cups runneth over
with our thoughts and prayers

Happy:

I'm thankful that some of our doggy friends have been able to sniff out cancer. Although it's a small percentage and more research need to be done, it is still quite a breakthrough. Do you think dogs can sniff out cancer?

I'm also thankful that we doggies have an incredible sense of smell. To think of all the lovely smells we can sniff! My favourite would be the yummy aroma of bacon. What's your favourite smell?

Hope everyone is having a thankful time.

What a lovely post.
My mom's mom lost her life to breast cancer. It's a horrible disease. Something that nourishes life can also take it away.
On a lighter note, I'm thankful for the yummy smell of BBQ steak. That's my favourite.

As a dog I am thankful for having both joy and sorrow in life, for that is how we know we are alive - happiness comes hand-in-hand with pain, and being alive to experience and deal with both is a divine gift for which we should be thankful.

I know from experience that dogs can sniff out cancer. Before I was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 1994, my dog was sniffing around me constantly. After I was diagnosed and had my hysterectomy he never did it again, nor had he ever done it before. I said then that he knew that I had cancer.

So many things to be thankful for.

Blessings,
Mary

Happy, that's a lovely post. It's great to take the time out to be thankful for what we have. Sometimes when I'm falling asleep I try to think of five things that I'm grateful for. It's a lovely way to sink into sleep.
Re good smells, I think my favorite is the smell of a bed made up with sheets that have dried in the sunshine.
Penny (my dog) - well, I think her favorite smell is rubber bouncy balls.

Blessings LS & HAPPY...Such a beautiful tribute to your second mom and making us aware of BC Month. I did in my TSMSS, first Saturday in Oct....I loved the graphics & went to check them out! Sounds like your time is like mine...that's why I condense, though I learned today, it's too much, too busy & seemingly confusing disorganized...I guess the order is only in my eyes & mind. Thanks for the visit & 3 in 1 comment but it's actually 5 in 1:
Perfect Blend Award (which I hope you'll accept), WFW, TT, TSMSS &
it started on Sunday with my new meme...Super Sunday, Scene, Song,
Scripture...keep it simple!

Happy...regarding sniffs...I believe God created dogs to do alot with their abilities!!! Dogs are such a blessing! My own sniffer is
very plugged & then runny but I still can smell the yucky smells and enjoy the cooking food smells usually...and I know all 5 of mine do, even hear me opening wrappers on treats & they come running & begging...

I'm thankful in all your busy ness
you took time to pause & give God thanks & bless us with your sweet post & visit! Hugs to you! & big
smooch slop from my 5(oh not Chimi, he does not like that slobber stuff not even kissies...tough guy)

((U)) Peggy, Bravo, Chimi, Toby, Chiqui & Chispa.....
