Thankful Thursday

Hosted by Iris

When my path was drenched with cream and
the rock poured out for me streams of olive oil
Job 29:6

LS:

Have you ever had those days when you are so busy with hardly any time to cook, yet at the same time you are so tired of take outs? Of late it has been like this for me. Desperation is the mother of invention. In my case, no invention but desperate enough to check out some simple recipes which I think I should be able to handle LOL. I've never thought I'd actually cook this dish as I've always ordered them at the restaurant.

So, this week I'm thankful for the person who created the recipe for Spaghetti Aglio-Olio. I don't know who that is (was) but I'm very thankful for the recipe. Fast, easy and yummy. It's certainly a heaven sent recipe for a dummy cook like me LOL!

I'm also thankful for olive oil. No, this is not all about food LOL. Besides for cooking, olive oil is good for our skin and hair, etc. Ever since I've started using it on Happy's hair, my time spent on grooming her has been greatly reduced. Plus, no more matting!

Happy:

I'm thankful for spaghetti too. Yummy! I'm supposed to be thankful for olive oil too? But I don't like the smell! Ok...ok...I'm thankful for olive oil because I don't have to endure so much grooming time after using it (phew!)

LS said my hair looks better with olive oil

These pictures were taken a while back when my hair was longer. Since then LS has cut it really short. I'm thankful for shorter hair too. Even lesser grooming time!

Although I'd very much prefer to look like this.

And especially like this!!!

Excuse my drooly face. It was very hot at that time. I even drooled on LS' jeans hehe...The sweet and dainty friend next to me is Beau. Some said we look like each other although LS said I look more like a ruffian. Do I?

Hope everyone is having a thankful time too.

Recently we came across Dogs on Thursday where a group of dog lovers blog about their dogs every Thursday. Rather different from most of us doggies where we blog about ourselves almost all the time. But still, it's always interesting to read about us from the human's version, don't you think? Do feel free to visit them and participate.

Toy Safety Check

Recently we've all read about the dangerous toy and the injury sustained by one doggy, Chai, as a result of playing with it. The full story can be read here as well as at Khyra's. It's really scary so we hope everyone do check the safety of the toys before getting them for us doggies.

I'm rather possessive of my balls. So when LS read about the incident, she wanted to inspect my ball.

Here's me guarding my ball
Ok, ok, I'll do the checking...

The yellow ball does not have any holes at all.
The other one has two tiny holes which my tongue can't go in at all.
All good for playing with. Have you checked your toys?

Thankful Thursday

May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels. Psalm 122:7

LS : I'm thankful that the new houses across the road have finally transformed into proper homes with occupants. For the past 4 years, the whole place was filled with sound and noises from all the construction, renovations, trucks and workers shouting...think you can imagine what it's like at a construction site. Oh and not to mention all the dust!

I didn't realise that I've gotten used to all that till few days back when it suddenly dawned on me how quiet the whole place is. And I really love the peace and quiet!

But this has also made me realised how thankful I am to have a peaceful and safe haven inside my own home despite all the chaos outside LOL!

Happy: I'm thankful that I have a safe haven too. As you know, recently Google said I needed a home. That got me worried for a bit but LS reassured me that we still have our home. And I'm also thankful for all our wonderful friends who offered me a home when I shared my concern with them on what Google said. I'm really touched to have so many kind and caring friends. Thank you dear friends!

This is me chilling out amidst the peace and quiet.
(the picture's a bit blurry as LS didn't know how to use the camera heh...)

Hope everyone is having a thankful time too!

Needs Gold Card

Recently saw Maggie & Mitch's and Lorenza playing the game "Needs". It says that all we have to do is Google our first name with the word "needs" behind it and post the results. Sounds fun so I had a go at it too.

My search result says:
Happy needs a home
Happy needs a home (again?)
Happy needs a nightout
Happy needs to find a way to get the money to get the house back for her (oh-oh)

Erm...does that mean I'm going homeless?

Luckily our friends, Hershey & Kaci and Mango came to the rescue with this gold card! Thank you so much! So happy to received it!

According to the terms and conditions (LS told me all Visa Gold cards come with T&C):

1. Only five people allowed (think I'm allowed 10 here...)
2. Four have to be dedicated followers of your blog.
3. One has to be someone new or recently new to your blog and live in another part of the world. 4. You must link back to whoever gave you the award.

We would like to pass the award to: Chris, Deetz, Denise, Gus Louie & Callie, Angel Cooper & Levi, Mr. T-Bone Beasley, Nancie, Rusty, Tuffy & Gina, and The Zoo Crew.

"A glad heart makes a happy face" Proverbs 15:13

In recent days I've listened to way too much about the hard times we are in, from the rising cost of fuel to an impending global recession. From how much one should be earning to how much savings one should have...Think you get the idea. LOL! Oh yes, it dampen the spirit...after a while. A lot. So much so that I've begin parroting those words to others and losing focus on what's important in my life. Simplicity and self contentment. Most importantly, trust in God!

I was still mulling over them this morning when "ping" I received an email. No, I received several emails which I didn't pay any attention to, except this one. Ok, maybe the word "dog" got my attention LOL!

This is the email I'm thankful for and what a lovely reminder.

A Dog's Purpose (from a 6-year-old)

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker 's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker's death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, "I know why." Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation.

He said, "People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?" The six-year-old continued, "Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long."

Live simply.
Love generously.
Care deeply.
Speak kindly.

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.

Take naps.

Stretch before rising.

Run, romp and play daily.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

When you're happy, dance around and 'wag' your entire body.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Be loyal.

Never pretend to be something you're not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.

Happy: I'm thankful that once again, we dogs get to impart wisdom. Heh...

ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY!!

Warm Fuzzies For Everyone

Another week. As usual, we are getting behind again in catching up with everyone. LS seems to be getting real slow lately, ever since the Olympics started. I told her Paw-Limpics are more fun to watch. Don't you think so?

Recently Angel Cooper & Levi mentioned about a picture of me on the coffee table. Here's one that was in a previous post.

Here's me woken up by LS with her camera.

Sometimes it's hard to take a nap in peace. Do you get disturbed during nap time?

Skywatch - When The Sun Sets In

This is our first time participating in Skywatch Friday. We've seen it going around and have always wanted to join in but never really get around to doing it till now.

Plus, we remembered and were inspired by Butchy & Snicker's post on sunsets a while back, which had awesome pictures of sunsets!

Here are two pictures taken from our kitchen window a while ago. Both sunsets were taken just a few days apart. But see how different they are.

Sunsets are so beautiful, aren't they?

Have a great weekend everybody!

Thankful Thursday

Hosted by Iris

LS : Today I'm just thankful for being able to share a gift along with everyone - a thankful heart! A gift of thankfulness to Him for all that He has given. This is a short post, I know. My internet connection is really slow...and so is my mind LOL. So I'd very much prefer to use the time to go around visiting rather than struggle with posting and uploading here LOL.

Happy: I'm thankful that LS is going to spend some time helping me to catch up with everyone. I sure have missed reading and hearing about all the antics of our doggies and hoomans friends. I'm thankful too that LS said for today we haven't gotten a single "Internet Explorer Cannot Be Displayed..." message so far...Keeping paws crossed!

Hope everyone is having a thankful time!

Updates

We've been having problems with blogger, the internet...so it has been quite hard to go around visiting these few days. Hope everyone is having a good week so far.

Oh yes, Lenny has officially launched the 2008 Paw-Limpics International Bone Relay! Do drop by at Lenny's blog, if you haven't already done so. Enjoy watching the fantastic video of the Paw-Limpics Bone on a relay around the globe!

This is a picture of me carrying the bone, courtesy of Lenny. Thanks Lenny!

Recently we asked about Frasier. Lorenza mentioned that Frasier's mommy has a food blog, so we went to look it up. This is a post we found on the blog : We are going to miss you Fraz. Perhaps Frasier and mommy have quit blogging? Or they are going away? We don't really know. We left a comment though. Then we found Frasier's name as one of the contributors of this blog : http://impypullies.blogspot.com/. But unfortunately it's not an open blog, so we couldn't go in. Maggie & Mitch said they couldn't find his email either. So that's about all. Here's hoping that all is well with Frasier.
