Thankful Thursday

"The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them" Psalm 34:7

LS:

Yesterday while I was at a junction, a SUV whizzed past me at a neck-breaking speed only to have the driver slamming on his brakes really hard a short distance later at the traffic light. Thankfully no accident happened.

Often times, scenes like this reminds me of how thankful I am to be alive today. Some time back while I was driving on a dark night in the pouring rain, I almost didn't make it home. I remembered waiting at a traffic light at a t-junction with the rain hitting so hard that I could barely see through the windscreen.

I usually drive off a few seconds after the light turned green. But not at that time. Somehow my foot didn't budge at all in that few seconds. Just then as I was about to drive across, a car sped past from my right. The car skidded and crashed into a divider. It could have been me instead of the divider. Thankfully the driver escaped unhurt although his car was badly damaged. Thankfully an angel was there that night. I was and still am thankful for that split second. I am thankful for God's protection and His angels.

Happy:

Yesterday, the same SUV driver had a dog hanging half out of the passenger window. You could tell how fast the driver was going from the way the shih tzu's hair was whipped back in one direction. Thankfully he was hanging on by his straining leash. Thankfully LS managed to stop next to him at the traffic light and told the driver that it was dangerous to have his dog half hanging out of his car (no matter how cool it looked, I would've added). Thankfully the driver accepted it graciously. Otherwise it would have been a different post today heh...just kidding!

I am thankful to have a carrier to travel in

What are you thankful for? Hope everyone is having a thankful time.

This is our first TT and DoT post for this year at Thankful Thursday and Dogs on Thursday.

Oh my... it is really scary, wasn't it!!
We are glad you are ok. It's a good thing your guardian angel is watching over you!!
We know what you mean about some owners allowing their dogs to hang half their bodies out of the car window.. we have seen it a few times and always say a little prayer for the pup's safety!

People should always drive with caution especially if their dogs are in the car. Silly people. We're glad all is ok.

Some people sadly will never learn. They should make it against the law to let a dog hang out of the window. I shudder to think what could happen.

Thankful you escaped without being hit. God was truly watching over you.

I had the same thing happen last spring. It was an older woman who ran a red light. Right into my car. Ripley was with me also, no injuries to us, just the car!

Blessings!

I am thankful that I am sitting safely in the Chowmobile's boot whenever we travel. It's the best seat in the car! I can stand up to take a peek out of the window, moved around if I'm restless or lie down to take a nap when I'm bored.

Happy,
I am thankful that you and LS are okay. Some humans are terrible drivers, aren't they? How stupid to let a doggie hang out the window.
Stay safe.

Phew what a lucky thing. My mum get very scared in the car. We was coming back from school the other day and it started snowing, we could not see anything and the car was all slippy. We lives in the country down the hill and we was very ascared of it being too slippy. But when we got to the hill it hadn't snowed there. Hurruff!

So true, I have often thought of this during several close calls while driving......I breathe a prayer, thank you Lord! So glad that you are safe and giving thanks as well! Have a wonderful weekend!! :)

I am glad you have a carrier to sit in too when you are driving. I have a seat belt which attaches to my harness in the car so I am not able to hang out the window. There should be some sort of law in place so that one has to have their dog/cat etc. secured somehow in the car. Just think if the car got into an accident and that doggy was hanging out the window?! Oh dear!!!!! Have a good weekend Happy. XOXOPeanut

This was a great post. I worry about dogs and children that hang out of car windows. It's so unsafe. It makes you wonder... What were they thinking. I'm thankful to have my dog Charli :>) I hope you have a great weekend!

Happy,

I have a car seat that I get strapped into. I guess I'm thankful that my mom takes such good care of me even if I'd rather sit on her lap when she's driving! I'm glad you and your mom were safe!

Aki and Poopie said...

we agree.. it is never 'cool' to leave a dog half hanging, esp. by itself and when driving at full speed. when manong and manang takes us out for rides, they never leave us alone. at least one human will always be there to hold on to us to make sure we are safe.

we are so glad your mum was able to get through the shih tzu's owner. we can say, she could have been that dog's angel for that day.

drooly kisses,

Aki

Oh Happy and LS leave it to you to make me stop and think about things I am grateful for, and to stop being selfish. I am grateful for the love of my family, who often put me before themselves and tend to my every need and just about everything I want. Aren't we loved pets so lucky? I just wish all animals were as lucky as us.

I'm so glad you and your Mommy escaped injury and that no one and no doggy got hurt.

A similar thing happend when my Mama was driving on a strange highway in a snow storm. My brother Daniel was a small baby at the time and he was in the car, and Mama was praying out loud to keep them safe and to show them the way. And He did! We all have our guardian angels.

We love you, Happy and LS. You always make us think about good things.
