Hunger and Hope

Recently we received this in our email. The subject said it's a Film Festival Winner. After watching it, we understood why. And we saw what hunger is from another perspective.

Right now, more than 500 million people are living in 'absolute poverty' and more than 15 million children die of hunger every year.

World Health Organisation estimates that one-third of the population is underfed and another third is starving.

Unite for Hunger & Hope

This week I'm combining this post with my thankful post.

I have a confession to make. I used to be a fussy eater. Thankfully, that has changed. Or rather, I'm still improvising LOL! I have to admit that at times I am still fussy...but I'm getting there. So when I received this email about hunger and hope, I am reminded once again of not taking provision for granted.

I have a confession to make too. I'm a fussy eater (just like LS hee...). At times I do kick up a fuss over my kibbles, wanting to eat LS' food instead. I know I should be thankful for having food and shelter when many of our friends are hungry and homeless. But LS said it's no fault of mine. She made the mistake of giving in to me all those times but now she's more resolved on being more firm with me. I'm thankful she knows better.

Oh wait, does that mean from now onwards I have to beg harder for human food?

Does anyone of you have eating issues like me? Or do you just eat anything that's edible?

Host of Thankful Thursday

Hi Hap! Both of us love to eat. I get sick if I eat anything other than my Iams dogfood. I have gotten a bit better with treats though.I can always eat Milkbones or Vitabones and a little bit of some other hard bones. SOme treats really make me sick though and Hootie's baby food makes me sick too.

I eat bugs and wax and earrings and leaves and cardboard...just about anything.I rarely get sick.Have thrown up only three times in my life I think. Had dia-maria once. I just like to chew on whatever comes my way!

We pretty much eat anything and way too much.

Dia-maria is what nurse Lacie calls, how can I put this tactfully?...the back door trots!

Beagles live for food and walks! I usually eat kibbles but get some human food mixed in with kibbles when my humans go out (kind of like a bribe...).

It's a timely reminder not to take what we have for granted.

If you can find one before tonight please send it right away to my new email address on my profile. It doesn't even have to be this years.

our human takes kibbles to the animal shelter, but not our kibbles. We also get all the food dropped by accident.

I don't like celery...but, if I had to eat it, I would. I take my snackies for granted all the time, but after reading your post..I will be more thoughtful that I have even one snackie. I would give all my other snackies to those hungry....Thanks for reminding us to always be thankful

Hey Happy, We are trying to catch up with our frinds. Both Scooter and I eat nearly anything! No fussy eaters here. Mom hasn't been eating much, but she is trying to do much better. Some people eat alot when they are sad, some don't eat at all. Mom is making herself eat cause she knowsshe has to. Normally she is not picky either!
Your words help us often.

Blessings LS & Happy...My dogs eat anything and beg for more! Their dog food is their last thing to eat!

I see this every Mon.Weds.Fri. here
because it's garbage day and there are people that come by to go through the garbage like that!
Most want cans, but many look for scraps of food or clothes or something they can use. Breaks my heart when they come as a family.
I don't have many leftovers but when I do, they get that and not out of my garbage bags!

Vineyard has a beautiful ministry to the Dumpsite people & colony that lives nearby. They make sandwiches, and a fruit & water that they distribute at the dumps than to the colony closet to the dump where they hand out what's left. Too many going without!

And Happy, it's even worse for the dogs!

I love you both and you have BIG loving hearts! Thank you for caring!

Hello Happy!

We wants to eat what the Chief eats ... but we're not always allowed to even be given a taste!

I suppose you could say we have our fussy days that's when we start hearing the Chief going on about how there are so many people out there that don't have anything to eat and there we are letting our food go to waste!

It's a strange world, isn't it, where some have so much and others have so little. I loved the part where they said a prayer before eating, probably a prayer of thanks. It was a beautiful film clip, because it portrayed a lot of love - the people who let him come for the food, as well as the man himself. Thanks for sharing this.

Hi Happy,

I used to be a fussy eater too when I was a puppy! But I have learnt to be better and eat everything in my humans got tough with me: either I eat what I get or I go hungry!! :-) (Plus if I leave something, they just give it back to me at the next meal...humph!) - but after seeing that video, am really glad that I have all the yummy things I get to eat!

My Old Girl and I are very non-picky eaters--we like everything!
But that was good of you to remind us about so many who don't have enough. :(

Eric said...

Happy, thank you for that. It's terrierable some have too much and some too little. Makes us grateful. I eat anything. Even stuff that isn't strictly "food"!!!
The more the better.

Sorry it has been so long in thanking you for my treats. Pip and me have eaten them and not even got to thank you. John has been busy looking after his mother who is 98, and going to the hospital to see Brenda, and taking us out so we have not had much time. So thank you very much they were delisious.
We do eat anything incase another dog eats it if we dont.
