Thursday is a time

To Be Thankful!

Recently I discovered that gardening can be a double-edged sword. What started off as therapeutic can very quickly become otherwise LOL! It's pretty stressful when your plants start giving up on you. Having open view access to all the other lovely gardens didn't help much either. Why couldn't my plants thrive and bloom like theirs? Yes, envy is a deadly sin LOL!

So I started trying harder. All I ever did was spray, prune and feed the plants. I've even tried talking to them. Both Happy and I have probably contributed enough hot air to fly a hot air balloon around the world LOL! Poor plants...they were probably more stressed out than me LOL!

Imagine having to de-stress from what was supposed to de-stress me in the first place. Talk about obsessive compulsion LOL! So I quit doing it.

Then one fine day, I noticed a pot of sunny yellow blooms. I've never even noticed them budding and now they're in full bloom. Finally I've found the real joy of gardening!

There's a lot to learn from gardening, isn't it? Sometimes we just have to let nature takes its course. No rush and no overly high expectations. When it blooms, the fragrance is so much sweeter. That's the way it is with life too. I'm thankful for that gardening lesson. It has a way of growing fruitfully into your life when you least expect it.

To Be A Thankful Happy Dog on Thursday!

I'm thankful LS started her gardening fever (again). I can never resist showing off my gardening skills. Digging Loosening soil and uprooting. What is there not to like about that?

LS and I don't share the same approach to gardening though. She likes to press down the soil firmly. That's not right. They need to be loosely scattered around, don't you think? She's always planting in all the wrong places too. All the uprooting keeps me really busy.

Not that she appreciates my help. She said something about too many paws spoil the garden and promptly banish me to my cage each time.

So that's the story behind the picture in the previous post.

Hope everyone is having a thankful time!

You are too funny - de-stress from the de-stresser - lol. I have given up tending to flowers a very long time ago - poor things always died under my care...

Thank you so much for sharing your grateful heart and the wisdom behind gardening.

Be blessed today and always...

Peggy,

Thank you so much for taking the trouble to email me when you couldn't post a comment here. Although blogger can be such a monkey wrench at times, thankfully we still have the copy and paste function LOL!

COPA DE ORO...is growing & blooming beautifully! I'll have to share photos soon!

This is such a joyful way to share your thanks!
Bless you for making my day!
I'm sure the PARK is gorgeous! Stay out of HOT AIR BALLOONS THOUGH...or filling them...just enjoy

Hi Peggy,

So happy to hear from you, Happy included! Can you see her wagging her tail? Thank you so much for your sweet comment. It makes me feel so much better knowing I'm not alone LOL!

Ironically, envy and ivy is so easy to grow, isn't it? LOL! Without much attention, they can just outgrow and encroach into every available space. Oh boy, another gardening lesson learned? So keep ivy and envy out LOL!

Oh, so you weren't in the "cage" for a lovely trip on a plane.
You dogs are so good at gardening, though the humans seem to have this strange idea that the plants are to STAY in the ground.

I used to have lovely flower gardens, now it thrills me when a flower avoids the dogs long enough to blossom.

My mum has learned this lesson many a time about the de-stressing activities, turning stressful...she is thankful for a soft bed to rest her head in, when things get a little aggravating in order to walk in the reality of life. Me, I just let go and let God.

Hi, Happy!
We don't have a garden. Just a small patio where my grandma has some plants that she loves but sometimes they don't look happy!
Hmmm...
Take care

Mother Nature needs no lessons from us, that's for sure. 'Course, I don't think she'd mind if I did a little pruning and turning of soil once in a while ... great post!

I loved reading your post even though I couldn't relate. While I love flowers, I was cursed with a black thumb and I feel about inflicting myself on "fresh victims".

My mom used to say that Gardening is like her spiritual cleansing. I really didn't knew what that meant til I grew up!

Happy Thankful Thursday ...

Thanks so much for visiting my blog and offering congratulations to my daughter. She is going to Kuala Lumpur. I have been clothes shopping, but still unsure if I have the right clothes. Any advice would be appreciated.

I wrote a post about my experiences with gardening sometime in May or June. I talked about the weeds, and trees that were coming up. Digging, prodding, pulling. It reminded me of how sin can encroach my life. I was starting to get WAY too stressed also. Than I realized that I was learned MUCH from working in the garden. I LOVED your post...thanks for sharing. A lot of truth written here...

I'm not sure what part of the world you're in, but do know that southern Ontario has had a lot of rain this year. Only 6 sunny days in July so far and not sure what today will bring. Plants only like so much sun and so much water. Some of mine aren't doing well and others are thriving. It all depends on the year, as well as how we care for them.

Enjoyed visiting with you once again. Have a wonderful day.

Blessings,
Mary

Ahhh Happy.Your gardening skills are many. Mom stresses about her garden too same as LS.Even over the sweet peas which I try my best to water ...oh how often I wish for an extending long legged. And a means to let you capture some of that hot air you could fly over and visit.

Wiry wags n kisses Eric xxxx

Hi Happy,
Heehee.. can you please let LS know that my mom is thankful that her plants are still alive (barely only), doesn't matter that the number of leaves on the plants are countable! (yes, I know that pathetic)...

That's a nice story Happy. :)

Oh, Happy - at least your human can keep things alive...mine has "black fingers" - she kills everything, even PLASTIC plants!!!

I agree - humans never seem to appreciate dogs' gardening efforts! :-)

Happy,
I just know you are the best gardening assistant there is!

And as much as my mom loves flowers, I think she may have even more troubles growing them than your mom does!

I'm with you 100% Happy!
Soil needs to be loosen up by some skillful paws like yours and watering regularly by your peemail.
It's not fair that you had to be put behind bars like that, see my new mom? She's super cool, she let me be all I can be!
Got my hint? *wink*
Love ya!

I adore gardening too. Thankfully it's late winter early spring here so I'm looking forward to the ground drying up so I can get outside more. Thanks for your comment at my blog btw ;-)
