Thankful Thursday

LS:

"I have told you this so that my joy may be in you
and that your joy may be complete"
John 15:11

When we get bogged down with setbacks in life, it is so easy to lose our joy, isn't it? So it has been with me in recent times.

Although God sent me rainbows, I was unable to hold on to the comfort and gladness for long.

Whatever your cross, whatever your pain
God always sends rainbows, after the rain

Then, for a period of time, this blue kingfisher kept appearing day after day. For a while, I would just stare at it without thinking much of its presence. But one day I started talking to it LOL.

"G'morning Mr. Bluebird. Here again? You sure look happy and handsome in blue! Wish I'm as joyful as you"

Later on in that same morning, as I was reading an email, one particular sentence struck me.

A sign in a pet store read "If anybody has seen the Bluebird of Happiness, would you please notify this pet store?"

I have. I was just talking to it this morning!

Bluebird of Happiness

Needless to say, the content of the email was a message to me. I did not realise how much joy I have lost as I struggled with recent troubles. I was reminded that I need to keep my joyfulness in all circumstances. For joy is often contentment in spite of unsettling present.

I'm thankful for His joy and that He did not give up on me eventhough I'm such a slow learner LOL.

I'm thankful that I'm HAPPY

What a great post. Yes, I know how hard it is to keep that joy... actually, its always there. It is in our heart because we know and love Jesus. But, the problems of our lives can interfer. So glad that God has sent you little reminders of his love and faithfulness... the bluebird of happiness, the rainbow, etc.
He loves you so much. May you go forth dancing and singing in the joy of the Lord!

I love this post! It is so good to hear from you again! I have a funny bird story.... I used to complain about birds waking me up until I realized it was God's way of saying "Good morning. You need to get up now." Or I'd see a bird as I was going out to my car and I would tell it good morning like you talked to your bird. I like birds now. LOL Hope things get better for you. Hang in there. We are all pulling for you.

You know, I can identify with you. I've also been going through a very difficult season of life. I have to catch myself at times because I can get very discouraged and sad. But I remember who I am in Christ and it makes all the difference. He is my joy, no matter what the circumstances.

I love the photos of the rainbow and your visiting bluebird. What a gift from God. And of course, your little doggie is adorable.

Blessings,
Debbie

How sweet that you were able to see God's love for you and realize that He means for us to find happiness in that little bird. I have a cardinal that I call Jerry McGuire because he was the first bird I heard at the end of winter. He would chirp and chirp outside my window...and I told him he didn't need to keep going on like that...he had me at hello.

Serendipity, I cannot thank you enough for your comments yesterday. No one has ever said that to me. So cool that you think my art is colorful as are my words. I will cherish that thought always. It really did make my day. Thank you! You have inspired me to do something with colorful words now! LOL

Hi Serendipity, I came over to read your blog after you'd left a comment on mine. First time here. Nice post. Was just telling my sister (who I am visiting in KY with) how wonderful it is to see so many Christian bloggers. I was also telling her that recently I'd read an article in a Guideposts magazine about a homeless man who was a believer. He said he gets up each morning, acknowledges he belongs to Him, and thanks Him for that besides for taking care of him. I've tried to adopt the same attitude since reading that, especially since I was facing this 715 mi. trip from Western NY to visit my sister ... alone for the first time. But the thing was, it helped me to remember I am not alone, and I am never alone. Jesus is always "closer than a heartbeat". I am so thankful for that! It's His joy that gives us our strength for what we go through... and remember, He delights in you (all of us)!

I think dogs are our little bluebirds of happiness, also. I don't think I had laughed out loud for sheer joy for years before Penny came to live with me, and now I'd do it at least a couple of times a week.

I am thankful for you Happy and your sweet owner. I'm sorry that times have been difficult lately, but God loves you and I think his Bluebird friend was sent especially for you, as was the rainbow. Sometimes we do loose sight of the signs that are all around us or we are not paying attention. Thank you for this beautiful post and the wonderful reminder.

Dear LS,
It's OK to lose the joyfulness once in a while. Joy will come back to you and you'll treasure it more than ever before, my 2 cents thought!
Happy cute face with tongue sticking out sure is a happy thing!
